Windfall is a offbeat thriller which stars Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons and Jason Segel. This film is about a man who breaks into a tech billionaire's empty holiday home. But it does not go according to plan because the arrogant mogul and his wife arrive for a last minute getaway.
Windfall has a old school feeling throughout and can be cheesy at times. But it also has a weird atmosphere throughout as well, which keeps this film somewhat interesting because it is so odd. What I liked about this film is the performances from the three actors. The film relied on the actors performances too much because there was a lot to be desired about the plot. As always Jesse Plemons hits the ball out of the park with another brilliant performance, and was the standout in this film for me.
Windfall is not the best film Netflix has put out there, because it lacks story and feels stale at times. There is not much going on throughout, and the ending makes it seem like I had wasted my time watching this film. I thought that I would be rewarded for getting through this film and the ending would really make it worth it, but it ended in disappointment and left me feeling frustrated.
With the big names that were involved I had high hopes for this. But in the end I was disappointed with how it turned out. Like I said earlier the only positives were the actors who carried this film, but this still was not enough to save this film from being a failure in my eyes.
Verdict - 5/10
Windfall had some promise but ultimately let me down in the end. If you value your time I would not recommend this to people who rely on story to keep them engaged. But if you like thrillers than maybe you can give this ago and see if this is for you. Personally I liked the concept of the film, but it ultimately failed in my opinion.
