The Eternals is the latest blockbuster Marvel movie to come to Disney Plus. Although it has one of the lowest Rotten Tomatoes scores for a Marvel movie, it still has a epic cinematic feel to it.

The Eternals is about ten warriors from Olympus who have come to protect the earth from deviants. Deviants are creatures who kill intelligent life on different planets. The warriors from Olympus are called Eternals, and they protect planets from these deviants by killing them off and protecting intelligent life on different planets, which in this case is earth. The Eternals arrived on earth in 5000 BC in Mesopotamia. The eternals help mankind to evolve and become more advanced. Arishem the judge is the prime celestial who the Eternals take orders from. Arishem is credited to creating the first sun and bringing light to the universe. Each Eternal has powers, almost all of them have superhuman strength, durability, agility, stamina and super quick reflexes. But each Eternal has unique powers to them.

- Sprite can duplicate and levitate herself and others, and can create illusions. She is also the only child in the group.

- Ikaris is basically superman. He can shoot lasers out of his eyes, has super strength and can fly. Ikaris is probably the most powerful Eternal out of all of them.

- Ajak is the prime Eternal, she is the one who can speak to Arishem and knows what is going on. Ajak has telepathy, telekinesis, can manipulate matter and flight through levitation. She can also heal people.

- Thena is like a Greek warrior who has super strength and super fast reflexes. She has weapons that can appear in her hands.

- Sersi is the best at manipulating matter, which means she can take the molecules in an object and can reshape them to whatever she wants.

- Gilgamesh can manipulate cosmic energy.

- Druig's main powers are mental manipulation, possession and telepathy.

- Makkari has super speed

- Kingo can shoot fireballs from his hands

- Phastos's powers is cosmic manipulation, matter transmutation and teleportation. Phastos is basically the engineer of the group and helps mankind with various advancements in history.

As you can see the Eternals are very powerful beings. You may be thinking why the Eternals didn't help the Avengers defeat Thanos. The reason is because Arishem gave them specific instructions not to get involved in human conflict so mankind can develop themselves. Some of the Eternals have a hard time watching mankind kill each other when they can stop it themselves. Druig is especially upset that he can't stop wars between people, because he could easily stop it by using mental manipulation and possession. At which one point he stops listening to the orders they were given and disappears, which splits the group, and Ajak let's them go their own ways because all the deviants on earth have been killed.

The film isn't really about the action, but about what is right and wrong and the different sides of the story. But the film isn't all doom and gloom, Karun which is Kingo's manager brightens up the movie. Kingo becomes a Bollywood star after the group breaks up. When we first meet Karun he instantly knows who the Eternals are because Kingo tells him everything, throughout the movie Karun follows the Eternals and films them for a documentary. When the movie becomes to dialogue heavy he is there to lighten the mood.

Ajak dies towards the end of the first part of the story supposedly by deviants. This is when the gang gets back together. Sersi is the main protagonist of the story because we follow her the most in the movie. Sersi suspects the earthquakes that have been happening is no coincidence. Sersi has a boyfriend who is called Dame Whitman, who we later find out in the post credit seen is going to be the Black Knight. Sersi gets attacked by a deviant with Dame and Sprite, they fight the deviant and Ikaris comes to help them. As they try to defeat the deviant, they notice that it can heal itself. The deviant escapes and brings more questions to them as to how it can heal itself and how have the deviants returned. They go to Ajak's house to tell her what's happened and Sersi finds Ajak dead outside. This is where the orb inside Ajak that allows her to speak to Arishem goes into Sersi. The first encounter Sersi has with Arishem is that he says "It is time" which makes her confused. The middle part of the movie is Sersi, Sprite and Ikaris finding the rest of the Eternals and reuniting.

Thena who is the warrior has a condition called madweary which makes her confused and dangerous because she can't control herself and she ends up attacking people. Gilgamesh ends up looking after Thena after the Eternals split up at the start. Gilgamesh ends up dying by a deviant and the deviant sucks his power out of him. This is when we realize that the deviants absorb the powers and evolve. That was why the deviant at the start could heal itself is because of Ajak's healing powers.

When Sersi ends up speaking properly to Arishem he tells her everything and the reason they were really sent to earth. Arishem tells her that the deviants didn't suddenly appear on planets, they were made by him to protect the planets from predators so that intelligent life can grow. But the deviants ended up killing intelligent life and they became the predators. So that is why the Eternals were sent to different planets to kill off the deviants and help life evolve. We also find out that the Eternals did not come from Olympus, but they are synthetic beings, which are robots that were made to kill the mistake Arishem made and protect life. The reason Arishem wants to protect intelligent life and grow it is because once it gets to the required amount the emergence begins. You see what the Eternals were protecting really was the seed that was planted in the earth, this seed grows into a celestial and destroys the planet. But when a celestial emerges it creates other galaxies so that other intelligent life can be made and so on. So Arishem decides which planets lives and die. The celestial that is suppose to emerge from earth is called Tiamut the communicator. This is why the earthquakes are happening. The reason why the Eternals cannot remember every planet they go to and help destroy is because after each emergence their memory gets wiped and reset. But if the memory gets reset incorrectly the Eternal become madweary which is what Thena has got. So what Thena is experiencing is where her brain fractures under the weight of her memories and what she is experiencing when she has her violent episodes is her remembering the planets she helped destroy.

When Sersi tells the Eternals the truth they don't know what to do. Because on one hand if they stop the emergence they will be stopping billions of more intelligent life from forming, but if they do not stop it they are letting all mankind die to whom they have come to love even with all of there flaws. When they find the ship they discuss on what to do. Phastos comes up with an idea of a uni mind, which is where all of the there powers are linked and can stop the emergence from happening. This is where we find out that Ikaris was the one to kill Ajak because she wanted to stop the emergence, so he let the deviants kill her and absorb her power. Ajak told Ikaris a long time ago what was actually happening and what they were protecting. Kingo decides he doesn't want to be part of the stopping of an emergence so he leaves. Ikaris decides to stop the Eternals from stopping the emergence and Sprite joins him. We find out that Sprite loves Ikaris and she is jealous of the other Eternals because they are not children like her, they are adults, and they can live normal lives. The end is pretty awesome because this is where the special effects really show themselves to be amazing. In the end Sersi and the rest of the Eternals link and stop the emergence by Sersi being the center of the uni mind. Ikaris was going to kill her before she stopped it, but he didn't because he loves her. After the emergence is stopped Ikaris leaves and fly's to the sun and Sprite is transformed into a real human by Sersi so she can grow up and live a normal life. Thena, Druig and Makkari go to space finding other Eternals and telling them the truth of what there mission is.

The last scene we see Sersi and Dame talking and Dame is about to tell her about his families past when she is summoned by Arishem with Kingo and Phastos. He tells them that he knows they stopped the Emergence and he will be back and place judgment to see if they made the right decision to protect this planet from being destroyed.

There are two end credit scenes, the first one is when Druig, Thena and Makkari are on the ship in space and a troll appears which is called pip the troll. Pip introduces Starfox and we find out that he is Thanos's brother. The second end credit scene is when Dame is alone in a room with a sword, which is the Ebony Sword that the Black Knight has. He is about to touch it when we hear a voice behind him and then it ends. So we got introduced to Starfox, the Ebony Sword and the Black Knight, which is going to make the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe excited for future Marvel Films.

Overall this was my least favorite Marvel film, but I still liked it for the spectacle that it was and the philosophical themes. The action scenes were underwhelming, and I feel we could have done without a character or two. The characters that I'm referring to are Sprite and Makkari. I feel they don't bring much to the movie and would not have made much difference to the story without them. But the positive thing of the movie is the special effects and the scale of it were the best I have scene in a Marvel movie.

Verdict - 6/10

The movie was too long and dialogue heavy. The action scenes were to be desired and too many characters to care about them all. The special effects were amazing and if you love Marvel films for the lore this is for you!
