Black Crab Review

Black Crab is based in a post apocalyptic world, and we follow six soldiers on a covert mission. They have to transport a mysterious package across a frozen archipelago. This mission is suppose to end the apocalyptic war that is happening in this world. The main character we follow is called Edh who is doing this mission in order to see her daughter again.

This is a Swedish film, and the dubbed version is not so bad compared to other dubbed tv shows and films on Netflix. The operation the group are on is called Black Crab hence the title of the film. Throughout the film the main character Edh has flashbacks, and we see little moments with Edh and her daughter. What I liked about this film is the visuals which were stunning at times, and the world felt dark and grim. Which was perfect for the tone the film wanted to set.

The film dragged on a bit, especially the middle section of it. The characters were too bland, and I could not connect with there stories emotionally. Also saying that it is supposed to be a action/thriller film, the action side left a lot to be desired. Our main character Edh is not very likeable and can be frustrating at times. This is because the character feels so emotionally dethatched to the situation, that I could not connect with her emotionally.

I had high expectations for this film, and it left me disappointed. Overall it was boring, and the plot did not do the film any favors. The acting throughout was mediocre, and I don't know what would have saved this film from the failure it was.

Verdict - 4/10

Black Crab is boring, and is not worth your time if you are expecting a action packed film. It is suppose to be a post apocalyptic thriller, but it is too predictable and the setting does the film no favors. If you are looking for a good action/thriller film, then I would recommend skipping this one and finding something else.
