We start the episode off with Arthur finding out that Thomas has got Tuberculoma. But Thomas does not really want to talk about it, and tells Arthur to keep it a secret till he has gone away. We also hear that Billy Grade is giving information to Nelsons Boston gang and the IRA about Arthur's whereabouts so they can kill him. But in the meeting where Billy learns this information, we see Thomas is keeping things from Billy because he knows he is giving information to the enemy. Billy is invited to a party, and Duke has been told to test Finns loyalty by having him kill Billy. Instead Finn tries to kill Duke, but the first two chambers of the gun is empty because they knew what Finn was going to do. So Duke ends up killing Billy by shooting him in the head. Finn vows to get revenge on Duke, and kill him. I believe that if there is going to be a Peaky Blinders film, then this would be a perfect plot for it.
After Billy told the whereabouts of Arthur, the IRA come and attempt to kill him. But because Thomas and Arthur already knew about Billy giving information, they were prepared. We get a shootout between the IRA and the Peaky Blinders lead by Arthur. And Laura McKee is there as well trying to kill Arthur, but in the end Arthur ends up killing McKee.
Michael gets out of the prison to meet Thomas Shelby and tries to kill him. Michael attempts to do this by planting a bomb in the car when Thomas is in it, but this fails miserably. This is because Thomas brings Jonny along to swap the bomb with the other car, and killing some of Nelson's Boston gang members. Michael comes out of the bar thinking that Thomas is dead, but we get some dialogue between the characters and Thomas shoots Michael in the head. Alfie makes a appearance in this final episode, and we get an idea that he will benefit a lot from the outcome.
When Thomas comes back to England we see that he is knocking down the house, and we get a beautiful shot of him walking away while the house is blown up. After this we see a emotional farewell speech from Thomas with his close friends and family. The next scene we see he is living in a wagon in the middle of now where, and he is about to kill himself when Ruby comes to him and tells him to start the fire again. She also tells him that he is not sick, and this makes Thomas very confused and flustered. As Thomas is about to burn the newspaper to start a fire he sees a picture of Oswald Mosely's wedding photo, and he sees the doctor in the photo that told him he had Tuberculoma. This is when Thomas realizes that the doctor had given him fake results of his diagnosis.
He goes to the doctors house, and he tells him that he did not know how well connected he was. Thomas is about to shoot him, but he hears a bell ring and decides to let the man live. The last shot is of Thomas's wagon burning, and him riding off on his horse.
Verdict - 9/10
This episode was a perfect ending to a show that I have loved for years. The finale ties a lot of loose ends for me, but it also sets up the prospect of a Peaky Blinders film. The final season overall is different to the last few seasons because it was not action packed. But I enjoyed the season as a whole, and the finale felt like a poetic ending to one of the best shows on TV.
