The episode starts off with Thomas Shelby telling the Chinese to stop selling Opium to people, by threatening and warning them with a bomb. We also finally get to see Finn again, after only seeing him in the first episode at Polly's funeral. He is at a family meeting where we get introduced to his wife Mary. Also at this meeting we see Thomas introduce his son that he found out about in the last episode to the family, which does not go down well. Especially for Lizzie, who is still mourning the death of her daughter Ruby. Thomas meets Linda at a church and convinces her to look after Arthur by offering to donate £10,000 to her charity.
We meet Stagg again in Liverpool, and Thomas wants Stagg to store guns and ammunition that will be coming from Boston. Fans have been wondering why we have not seen Billy Grade, but in this episode we finally get to see him. Billy is forced to kill a religious man who will not take a bribe to fix a football match. After this has happened we see him in the steam room and Nelson threatens to rip his balls off, and tells him to give up Arthur. By this he means kill Arthur because Nelson also wants to get rid of Thomas Shelby, because that is what him and his associates have decided. I have a good idea that the associates he is talking about is Diana Mitford and Oswald Mosely. Whether these are the associates or not is to be seen in the Finale.
In this episode we see Thomas and Diana sleep together, and this has a big impact on not just the final scenes of this episode but the finale as well. Towards the end of the episode we see Diana humiliate Lizzie at the table with Nelson and Mosely in attendance at a dinner Thomas set up for a farewell to Nelson. After hearing the news Lizzie storms off in embarrassment, and Mosely and Diana saying to Thomas that he could do better, and Lizzie is not cut out for this. This is when Thomas finally realizes that he not different from the people he is with on the table. I think Thomas thought that he was just playing the role, but he really is the person he was pretending to be.
The final scene we see Michael being given a ultimatum, which is either being released and killing Thomas Shelby, or staying in prison. Obviously Michael chooses to kill Thomas setting up a big finale to this iconic show. I really have no idea how this is going to end, but the final episode is suppose to be a pretty long one. There will be a lot of moving parts, and I can't wait for the last ever episode of Peaky Blinders.
Verdict - 7/10
There was not much going on in this episode, but I can see why. This episode was setting up the events that will happen in the finale, and giving this well beloved show a epic farewell it deserves.
