Peacemaker Review

Peacemaker takes place after the events of The Suicide Squad. We follow Peacemaker after he is released from hospital, but instead of going back to prison he tries to avoid that. But he gets caught and is forced to do contract work, and by this I mean killing people who are high up in the government. The mission he is on is called Project Butterfly, and if you have watched The Suicide Squad then you will probably figure out that the mission is not named that for no reason.

I like that the show does not takes itself too seriously. There are a lot of jokes and it is very silly at times, which is perfect for who Peacemaker is. But it does have some emotional scenes that will make you feel sorry for Peacemaker. Even though people see him as a villain, Peacemaker thinks he is a hero. This is what we see him struggle with throughout the show. We see him in a different light, and it makes us understand him more as a human being. We also see how is childhood was, and what shaped him to become the person he is today. The performance from John Cena was brilliant, and he really made the series fun to watch.

The thing I did not really like was that it took about three episodes for the show to really kick off and get into it's groove. I think that is why in the first week airing in America they released the first three episodes in one go. In the UK we got to see Peacemaker later than our American counterparts, therefore we got to binge watch the whole season. So I can see why it took a few episodes for the show to really kick into gear for me. But the action scenes in this show were truly epic, and they felt like I was watching a high budget film.

Verdict - 8/10

Peacemaker is funny, violent and very silly at times. This is the perfect tone for the character, and we also see the vulnerable side of Peacemaker. This show will make you laugh throughout, but it also has some emotional scenes that will make you feel sorry for the character. If you liked The Suicide Squad then you will love this mini series of Peacemaker.
