Amazon released a title reveal trailer for the upcoming Lord of the Rings series on Amazon prime. The title that was revealed was The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The trailer was impressive, on viewing the tailer you would think that it was CGI. But the behind the scenes of the trailer on IGN's YouTube channel shows that these were practical effects. The narrator of the trailer is Galadriel. It will sound familiar to the fans of The Lord of the Rings films because it is very similar to the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring.
As the name of the tittle suggests, the series will take place in the second age. This confirms what has been rumored since the show was announced. What confirms this is a press release that came out from the showrunners J.D Payne and Patrick McKay. They said we will see stories like the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Numenor and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. This means we will most likely see the creation of the ring and Sauron giving them out to the Elves, Dwarves and Men. We will also probably see the destruction of Numenor, as the trailer suggests.
The Lord of the Rings series is rumored to be 5 seasons. But it will depend on how successful the show is, so it will either be more or less than the planned 5 seasons. The release date is September 2nd 2022. We have a few months to go yet before it is released, whether the episodes come out in one go or weekly like The Wheel of Time series is to be seen. Hopefully a full trailer will drop in the next couple of months, so we can get some more information about the show.
