Cracow Monsters Review

Cracow Monsters is a supernatural mystery drama. It is about a young women who is haunted by her past. She joins a mysterious professor and his gifted students to investigate paranormal activity, and fight demons. This is a Polish series and is heavily influenced by Slavic mythology.

I was not expecting much from this series, but it really took me by surprise. The performances from all of the actors were brilliant, and the plot was really good as well. The lore that was explained to us was really interesting, and it added to the show really well. Usually when we get massive dialogues from the characters explaining the lore, it can get boring and take you out of it a bit. But it had just the right amount to be interesting, and not bore the viewer with the details that are not relevant. It was also very creepy and disturbing at times, which I like in supernatural drama's. The mystery aspect was well done as well, because the series always kept me guessing and it was not predictable. The setting in Cracow really set the mood and tone for the series. Cracow felt well lived in and the city had a grim feeling to it, which really matched the tone for what the series was going for.

I do have some small knit picks with the show. I could tell from the start that the series was on a small budget because the effects looked really cheap, which took me out of it a bit. There is a lot of nudity in the show, and a couple of unnecessarily long sex scenes. I do not mind these, but this is just a heads up if your thinking of watching this with your family. The ending was very underwhelming, and it kind of put a damper onto a show I really enjoyed.

Overall I really enjoyed the show, and it kept me entertained all the way through. Hopefully Netflix goes a head with another season, but as always this will depend how the series is received, and what the numbers are. If we don't hear about a new season by July, then I think it is safe to say that Cracow Monsters won't be renewed for another season. Even though I liked the show, I would not be too disappointed if Netflix decided not to renew it.

Verdict - 7/10

This is one of the better Polish Netflix series that have been released on the platform. The plot is entertaining, and the characters are really interesting. The performances from all of the actors are amazing, and they really make the series a pleasure to watch. If you like supernatural stuff, than you will love Cracow Monsters. With the lore and the creepy vibe it has, it is perfect for supernatural fans.
